Family Portraits in the Park

Posted on August 5, 2008 19:37 by Bellemorephoto

I love summer. I even love summer thunderstorms. Except when they are happening during one of my photo shoots. Luckily, the one that passed through my recent shoot was quick and didn't dump too much rain on us. We were able to continue on with the shoot. It was a good thing too because the family was from all parts of the U.S. I had gone the week before to Strawbridge Lake in Moorestown, NJ to scout out a location for a 12 person family portrait. I was able to find a great big old tree that would add a lot of dimension to the picture and the kids seemed to like climbing in it to have their picture taken. My assistant also accompanied me and was able to take pictures along side of me and capture some of the shots I couldn't get.

I think that the photos came out great considering half of the subjects were kids under the age of five. They were very cooperative considering there was a playground nearby. After the formal poses were done, I got to capture some shots of the kids on the playground too.

Word of mouth has been my most valuable form of advertising. This family contacted me because of a referral from another one of my clients, Bridget, whose daughter, Sophie, is included in my kids portraits section. Even though I thanked her with a free portrait sheet, I want to thank her again. I have another family portrait session this weekend from yet another of her referrals. I am grateful that she's helping me spread the word.

Here's one of my favorites of Jennifer and her family:
